Seeking a new editor

by Mary Cullen

It’s time for change at Open House. After almost 13 years as editor I will be stepping down in the next few months and hope you, or someone you know, might be interested in taking up the post.

Like many roles in the church, it is voluntary. It is also fascinating. Open House was founded in the wake of Vatican II to give a voice to lay people in Scotland, and it has done so ever since, with the support of many clergy.

It currently appears online ten times a year. There is an editorial group which suggests topics and helps source contributors; we have a talented pool of regular writers and reviewers; and we are always interested in new voices. Each edition takes several hours to edit and upload once contributions are gathered in.

Through Open House I have met and corresponded with many committed and gifted people who have shared their time and talents freely and generously.  We have all benefited from their wisdom and insight.

If you have writing and editing skills, time to spare, and a commitment to debate within the church, please get in touch for a chat. IT training and support is available and I would be happy to work with a new editor for a time if that would be helpful.
